Sources API

Generate JSON data from a source's settings without creating a Datablist workspace, collection, or items. For example, retrieve the followers of an Instagram profile and use the generated objects in your own application.

Building workflows

The Sources API is a standalone API for running sources and retrieving results. To build workflows that connect several steps, use the Datablist app.

Sources require no input rows and do not write results into a Datablist collection. Create an asynchronous task, poll its status, then retrieve its results through the API.

Sources use the same credits as the app and Enrichments API. Some lookups consume credits even when no data is found. Sources and enrichments share account task limits, and each active task needs a different uniqueId.

Confirm each source's availability and settings in the current catalog before creating a task.

Get started

  1. Exchange your Personal API Key for an access token.
  2. Follow the quickstart.
  3. Choose a source and inspect its current settings/output schema.
  4. Use the task reference to retrieve status, results, or request a stop.

All requests use https://api.datablist.com/v1/sources. Source results are flat objects, not enrichment rows wrapped with inputId and per-input status. There is no submitted-inputs endpoint. Use the Enrichments API when you already have rows to enrich.
